Playwright and screenwriter Katie Cappiello partially based Netflix’s teen drama series ‘Grand Army’ on her 2013 work ‘Slut: The Play’. The series is set in the fictional eponymous school, which is named after the historic Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, New York. Although there are numerous characters in the show, it focuses on five students, in particular, delving deep into their lives, exploring their relationships with their family and friends, and showcasing their hopes and fears. ‘Grand Army’ season 1 premiered on October 16, 2020, on Netflix. Season 1 has 9 episodes. As far as the next season goes, here’s what we know. While Netflix hasn’t put out any statement confirming the show’s renewal for a second season, the streaming service has always been at the forefront of producing edgy and socially relevant projects. It also has an impressive collection of films and TV shows catering to the collective taste of its young adult viewers. As the inaugural season of ‘Grand Army’ has garnered mostly positive reviews from the critics since its release, there’s a good chance that Netflix is going to bring it back for a sophomore season. And if that happens, ‘Grand Army’ season 2 will likely be released in late 2021.

Grand Army Season 2 Cast: Who can be in It?

In ‘Grand Army’ season 1, Odessa A’zion (‘Fam’) portrays Joey Del Marco, newcomer Odley Jean portrays Dominique “Dom” Pierre, Amir Bageria (‘Degrassi: Next Class’) portrays Siddhartha “Sid” Pakam, Maliq Johnson (‘Skin’) portrays Jayson Jackson, and newcomer Amalia Yoo portrays Leila Kwan Zimmer. Grand Army Season 2 Plot: What can it be about?

The show’s five main characters belong to vastly different racial and financial backgrounds. And the lives they lead are often glaringly segregated from each other. But as the season progresses, these characters find more ways to assert their identities and self-worth. This empowers them to look beyond their own existence and peer into others’.

In the season finale, titled ‘Freedom’, Joey finally confronts Tim, Luke, and George. The latter two continue to maintain that what happened between them was consensual. But after Joey leaves, Tim says that he remembers that the other two boys raped her. In the closing scenes, Joey starts dancing again. Dom gets the high-school internship and finds out that she doesn’t have to marry her mother’s acquaintance. Jayson stages a protest during his performance. Sid begins a relationship with Victor. It is revealed that Leila is the one who has been writing the racist email. She sets it to be sent to Grand Army’s principal during the student demonstration. This causes chaos and panic at school.

While Joey is dancing, she receives a text from Tim, asking if they can talk. In season 2, he might help in prosecuting Luke and George. We might see Dom working with mental health patients in her community as part of her internship. Sid might finally have a candid conversation about his sexuality with his parents. We might also find out both the immediate and long-term consequences of Jayson’s public protest. Leila has started demonstrating disturbing sociopathic tendencies. This might be explored in season 2 as well.
